RE: What's Missing???

The ad is either bogus or they forgot the one in front of the price as in $100,000 is missing from the price

RE: Diesel Fuel Additive for Winter - Needed?

Absolutely.... There are several on the market don't know one is better than another... I use Howes..
Both Stanadyne and FTTP are also worth considering...

RE: What to replace a Kingdome with?

Wayne, We have the KVH in motion. Once we got it dialed in it has been flawless... Quick to connect when stationary and hangs on when in motion... Our provider is Direct TV...

RE: How are you and your RV during these times?

Absolutely no impact.... In fact we are going to travel more this year than ever... 13,000 miles so far this year.... Fuel Cost versus last year about $1,500 more... Which basically added about $20 bucks to the cost of each day we were on the road.
There are a lot of ways to save $20 a day if $20 a day makes a difference and if it doesn't then the added expense versus the amount expended for all the costs associated with the RVing Life Style as we do it is a nit...
Trips to Florida, South Carolina, and New Mexico in the works...Between Now and April 2009...
Enjoying the RVing Lifestyle is what we planned and saved for... Thus far nothing has interfered with it... Except the aggravation of it costing more.

RE: Albuquerque RV Rally...Who's going? April 17- 21

Janet, since Albuquerque is my home town Becky and I have the rally penciled in on our schedule.. We will plan on being in the area early so we can run up to the Navajo Rug Auction...
The Expo Center where the rally will be held is quite large since that is where the New Mexico State Fair is held...
Lot's of great stuff to do in the area..

RE: Tight turns with 4-Down Toad

I am not aware of any such restrictions... In terms of tight turns my first concern would be clearance... between the rear corner of the motorhome and the nose of the dinghy... Not an issue for me... I do try to avoid tight turns on anything by a hard surface.... On soft surfaces the dinghy's front wheels will have a tendency to resist turning.
We have 54,000 miles on our Aventa II and often execute turns to the limit of the motorhome crank angle...Just about every time I go into or out of a campground...:)
The geometry of the towbar is intended to have a level run between the motorhome and the dinghy... If your is not level sharp turns may or may not be an issue.

RE: Progressive Insurance

We have had progressive since 2003. The rates were competitive and the coverage has been great. Have had two claims... One for a service call for a flat tire and the other was to replace a window. On both occasions their response was excellent... Which included follow up phone calls to insure our satisfaction.. We have not had any rate increases...
We have zero deductible on windows... So the entire cost of the window was covered. The thing that I was impressed with was that progressive authorized 2nd day air from factory in Elkhart to Ventura California..... This was for the large drivers side window... About a 4 x 5 foot double pane with a sliding section... Turned out not to be needed but the fact that they committed to paying the extra cost so that our vacation would not be interrupted was a good indication of the quality of the coverage we had/have from progressive.
We lost the window in Colorado... in route to Ca via Zion National Park.. Progressive made arrangements to meet us in Utah... The agent showed up at the campsite in Zion.. Took a couple of pictures... Authorized replacement and shipping...
The window was replaced...We paid and sent the bill to Progressive and was refunded for the costs in full. We had the option of having Progressive billed but it was simpler to just pay and get reimbursed.
As with any company, not everyone's experience will be the same in our case Progressive has been aces and will continue to be our insurance company of choice.

RE: How many have had a blowout while using TPMS

I have never had a blow out... But I have had instances where I was grateful for an early warning of a tire losing pressure while driving. In one case the dinghy had picked up a piece of metal and the other I had a valve failure on a steering wheel of the motor home and the TPMS signaled a loss of air pressure.
I always check air pressure every morning I also check tire temp at every stop while underway. A TPMS will not prevent blow outs unless the blow out is due to a slow to moderate loss of pressure.
As a statement of opinion it is my belief that most tire failures are a result of;
Tires under inflated for the weight they are carrying
Tire have exceeded their useful life
Road Hazzards
I check my tire pressure before I get underway... I monitor tire temperature at every stop... The TPMS takes care of business while I am driving... If I hit a road hazzard or am under inflated for the weight I am carrying, or if my tires are beyond their useful life a TPMS will not be of much use.
I am the sort of person that likes the greatest margin of safety... The more indications of tire condition I can get I will take... I take care of business before I start driving for the day and each time we stop.. MY TPMS is on the job while I am driving...
I also get weighed at least twice a year...Its cheap..does not take much time if you fuel up at a truck stop...
A TPMS will not prevent all causes of blow outs it is just another tool... But does not replace insuring proper inflation or condition...

RE: Fix for UFO water pump problem.

A couple of weeks ago I was camped in Albuquerque near a couple from PA who were on their 3rd water pump on their UFO. Workhorse had not replaced the FCA but told the owner that the FCA was creating the problem and that the water pump "was not substantial enough"... The owner could not elaborate more... Hopefully this problem will be a thing of the past soon...
Other than the water pump problem the couple loved the UFO. It was a Winnebago Destination...
